Welcome to our overnight sensation … 100+ years in the making

In the last few years, it seems our club has struck a chord with families from Mystic to Madison, and our membership has nearly doubled. Established in 1916 with a golf course and guiding principles of friendship, courtesy and respect for all members, the club has, over the course of its history, enhanced its offerings by adding first rate facilities for tennis, platform tennis, pickle ball and swimming. With a friendly bar, excellent dining, many social events, and kids programs, the Old Lyme Country Club welcomes its members, both old and new, with first class facilities, a spectacular location and a long, rich history. Welcome to this overnight sensation, 100+ years in the making.

Tee it Up

“No tee times? Fantastic!” Just show up and tee off at our family-friendly, nine-hole course at the end of work, after a tasty lunch in the dining room, or just as the sun burns the dew off the greens. The 2,813 course designed by Al Zikorus is a par 35 (par 72 for 18) – short enough for beginners and seniors, yet technically challenging for low handicappers.

Hills test the walkers, but all are rewarded with  gardens, water features and natural beauty, making playing nine divine.

Net Gains

The four Har-Tru clay Tennis Courts at OLCC are groomed to perfection, quick to dry after a rain, cooler, and easier on the joints! Our two elevated platforms for pickle ball and paddle tennis are lighted to allow for evening play, and are surface-heated to keep them playable throughout the Winter. There are many fun events and opportunities for competitive play throughout the year, as well as expert instruction available for all ages and skill levels.

Into the Swim

Our Olympic-sized pool is set on the club’s highest point with dramatic views of the golf course, the town beyond, and fabulous sunsets. The atmosphere is casual yet supervised by attentive lifeguards and served by our friendly waitstaff. “It’s an oasis of calm enjoyment for our family.”

Breaking Bread

OLCC offers many areas for fine dining and socializing for lunch and dinners Wednesday through Sunday brunch. Our formal dining room is perfect for special member events, and the grill room and glassed-in porch are ideal for year-round, casual dining. The outdoor patio with views of the golf course and dramatic sunsets is a gift for dining under the clouds and stars. “It’s the best restaurant in town where the friendly waitstaff knows your name and your favorite drink, with a twist!”

Kid Power!

OLCC offers an extensive Junior Program that is extremely popular with our younger family members. It includes instruction in golf, tennis and swimming and runs throughout July, for kids from ages 5 through 16. The comprehensive program is coordinated among the three departments involved, and counselors supervise shuttling the kids safely from one venue to another. Of course, lunch is provided.

A Place to Belong

Gone are the days when a club would accept new individuals and families simply because their parents belong or who wanted to win respect from local business networks. Our members join a self-governing community where many volunteer on committees such as Dining, Grounds, and Infrastructure, helping to steer Club operations and planning for the future. This unique mixture of member participation and expertise is one of the main reasons our special place has survived and thrived for 100 years.
